It's never too late to seperate ourselves from the animals.

Howdy Great Ideas Kiddos!

I imagine that at least a few of you are interested in the due dates for the research paper, as well as what we are going to be up to next week. Well, here we go...

The rough drafts will be due at the beginning of class on Tuesday. The reason for this is that I want to take Tuesday to do some peer editing and review. On Wednesday and Thursday we'll be watching Vertigo and I'll be conferencing with you on your papers. Also, we'll have COW on Thursday and Friday so you can start working on the final draft.

Speaking of the final draft, it is due the FIRST DAY OF OUR SCHEDULED FINAL. I need some time to grade all of this wonderfulness and two hours just won't cut it. 

So what's up with the title of this blog post? Well, it seems to me that one of the main things that separates human beings from other animals is consciousness of self. We seek to know, to understand, and to explore. That is what this paper is about. I want you to explore a topic and prove some contention related to that topic. Animals can't do that. I asked my dog the other day why she felt she deserved a doggie treat. She just cocked her head to the side and whined. The sad thing is that, when I told you that this is a six to eight page paper, many of you had the exact same reaction.

So my appeal to you is to differentiate yourselves from the baser beasts and rise above the remainder of God's children. Explore, convince, excel, become the best "you" that you can.
